How does Sherwin Williams Tony Taupe perform in PNW light?

Tony Taupe (SW 7038) is a versatile neutral with an LRV of 37. In the Pacific Northwest, its balanced undertones prevent it from looking too cool under overcast skies, making it a premier choice for Sammamish and Woodinville exteriors.

What trim colors pair best with SW 7038 Tony Taupe?

For a high-contrast look, we recommend SW 7006 Extra White. For a softer, sophisticated palette often seen in Bellevue and Redmond, SW 7005 Pure White or SW 7040 Smokehouse (as a darker accent) work beautifully.

Expert Insight: Managing the PNW Light Box

Tony Taupe features an LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of 37, placing it in the "sweet spot" for Woodinville and Bothell homes. Under the diffused, white light of the Pacific Northwest overcast, this color maintains its depth without washing out. For a cohesive multi-tone look, we often pair it with SW 7040 Smokehouse (shown below) for entry doors and shutters to ground the palette.
