Functional Integrity: What We Don't Paint
At Elegant Painting®, we prioritize the mechanical health of your home. Painting certain surfaces can lead to functional failure or permanent damage. Below are our standard exclusions.
Garage Doors (Sprayed Closed)
Edges between sections and surfaces covered by weather stripping will not be painted. We only paint the visible exterior face of the garage door while in the closed position.
Painting inside edges can cause sections to be "glued" together or weather stripping to melt or rip off during our hot summer days.
Wood Windows (Sprayed Closed)
Windows will be masked and sprayed in the closed position. Inside edges and functional tracks remain unpainted to ensure the window operates smoothly.
Painting inside edges can permanently glue wood windows shut or damage critical thermal seals and hardware.
Concrete Foundations
Unless the concrete has been previously painted, we leave the foundation natural. Unpainted concrete is low-maintenance and structurally sound.
Natural concrete allows moisture to escape the home. Painting masonry often traps water, leading to unsightly bubbling and peeling.
Metal Flashing
Unless previously painted, metal flashing should remain unpainted. The factory coating is designed to last a lifetime without treatment.
Factory coatings are superior to field-applied acrylics on metal. We only paint flashing if it has already been painted by a previous contractor.
