Room Preparation

Interior room preparation

We are happy to move larger objects inside the home — couches, tables, desks, etc. Furniture is often placed in the middle of the room and covered to prevent paint splatter.

We prefer not to move any items of higher value: artwork, collectibles, computers, etc. Our crew is not able to remove any electronics that are permanently attached to walls.

Note: Please remove or secure any fragile, high-value, or irreplaceable items before the project begins. We will work around permanently installed electronics.

Masking & Cover-Up

Interior masking and cover-up

We protect all surfaces that are not being painted. This document is your written guarantee that our workers will not slop paint on any surfaces not included in the project scope.

  • Furniture: Moved as needed and covered with painter’s plastic.
  • Baseboards: Masked with blue tape and masking paper to prevent roller splatter and overspray.
  • Flooring: Protected using drop cloth or masking paper throughout all work areas.
  • Counter tops: Masked and protected using drop cloth or paper masking.
  • Kitchen Cabinets: Covered entirely with painter’s plastic to prevent splatters or overspray.

We will remove and reinstall power outlet and light switch covers, lights, and any other hardware that can safely be removed. Washer/dryers and some refrigerators will be pulled out and pushed back once the area behind them has been painted.

Not removed: Hanging lights/chandeliers, cabinets, trim, millwork, doors, etc.

► Cleaning & Patching

We clean all walls and ceilings to remove spider webs, dust, and dirt. Nail holes are filled using Benjamin Moore WhiteLightning interior/exterior grade caulking adhesive. Larger holes are patched using spackle compound, sanded, and textured to match the existing room texture.

► Primer

We apply (brush/roll) one coat of PVA drywall sealer on any new drywall mud, repaired areas, or fresh texture. Previously painted areas that are in good condition will not be primed.

Straight Lines

Machine-perfect straight lines

We employ a special method to produce straight lines that are machine-made perfect. This is a step-by-step process we use on every interior project: ceiling lines, around door and window trim, baseboard lines, and any other place where two colors meet.

Read Our Step-by-Step Process See Our Gallery of Straight Lines
Our Commitment: Every line on your project — ceiling lines, trim edges, baseboard transitions — is taped, sealed, and checked before the tape is pulled. We don’t consider a room finished until every line is perfect.

Warranty

Warranty Summary: The “Short Version”

We want you to be 100% confident in your investment. Here is the honest breakdown of how we stand behind our work:

  • What we cover: If we missed a spot, we’ll fix it for as long as you own the home. If the paint peels or chips on a sound surface within 3 years, we’ll come back and repair it.
  • What we don’t cover: Things outside of our control — like structural movement, moisture intrusion, or “bubbles” caused by moisture already inside the wall.
  • The Goal: If a problem is caused by our process or application, we make it right.

Lifetime Workmanship Warranty

This Limited Warranty is issued by Elegant Painting® exclusively to the original purchaser of our interior painting services. If our team fails to apply paint to any area included in the original estimate, Elegant Painting® shall, upon presentation of proof of purchase, return and correct the missed spots.

Duration: “Lifetime” refers to the period beginning on the date of purchase and continuing for as long as you own the home. This warranty is non-transferable.

Exclusions & Liability: This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from structural defects or the failure of previous coats of paint. Elegant Painting®’s entire liability is limited exclusively to a touch-up visit as needed. The homeowner is responsible for providing the touch-up paint left upon project completion.

3-Year Peeling and Chipping Warranty

If the coating peels or chips on a sound surface, Elegant Painting® shall, upon presentation of the original signed contract and verification of ownership, repair the affected areas.

Terms: This warranty is valid for three years, provided the coating remains unaltered and the original purchaser retains ownership of the home. This warranty is non-transferable.

What is Not Covered:

• Fire, settlement, structural cracks, faulty construction, or misuse of the home.
• Natural causes, third-party damage, foreign objects/agents, or ordinary wear and tear.
• Moisture content of the substrate, mechanical damage, abrasive cleaning, or harsh chemicals.
• Damage caused by plants, pets, or wildlife.
• Paint Bubbles: Paint bubbles/blisters of any kind caused by existing moisture within the wall are expressly excluded.
• Damage caused by leaky plumbing, roof leaks, insects, rodents, or any damage not directly caused by our painting and preparation process.

Legal Notice: Elegant Painting®’s liability is limited exclusively to providing touch-ups to peeling or blistering areas. We are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages. No other guarantees or warranties, express or implied, are provided beyond this express Limited Warranty.
