Dear Varga:
Thank you for contacting Governor Inslee regarding residential construction. Today the governor announced that we are allowing work to resume on construction projects that were underway before our order. This action was informed by workers, contractors, health and safety experts, and local government officials, for safe construction standards. The process that got us here involved the hard work and good-faith efforts of many. Their work has served as a model for reaching consensus on strict safety guidelines. This process is how we intend to work with other industries and groups on eventually lifting restrictions on different sectors of the economy. We cannot yet say when more businesses will reopen because that will be driven by emerging health data. You can read more on this announcement in our press release.
For many families, the lifting of this restriction will mean the completion of their home. For construction businesses, this will mean getting back to work and helping to rebuild our economy. The Governor wants to thank Washingtonians for making this possible by staying home and flattening the curve, which allowed the lifting of this restriction.
