Day 1: Power washing Date: March 12, 2014
We are back for our 7th house in this beautiful development. Entire exterior was power rinsed to remove any mildew, dirt, spider webs, and most importantly, that invisible layer of pollution which otherwise mixes into the paint and alters the formula.

Day2: Preparations; making & cover-up. Date: 04/11/2014.
Cedar Shakes
We like to start on top and work our way down. so today we finished both coats on cedar shakes and they are now in brand new condition! Product of choice; Benjamin Moore solid color stain. The reason we use stain on shakes is that stain does not chip, it fades instead. If shakes are painted, the paint will eventually chip and shakes are to delicate to survive the preparation next time house is painted. With stain they just fade and next time its just a matter of wash/restain.
Caulking
Our favorite caulking material for artificial siding is SikaFlex® by sika group of America. This product dries into a very durable flexible material. This material will not however stop fiber cement siding boards from shrinking. Shrinking is what this type of siding does and the caulking material will eventually crack sometime before the next paint job is due.
Protecting plants
Taking special care to keep paint off of plants, patios, AC, door handles, etc.
Second coat
We try to complete the upper portions and leave the easy parts for our last day on the job. especially with high risk areas on the roof, we secure our ladders, Prepare the surface, apply both coats, clean up, and then move on to other parts of the house.
Front and garage doors
With metal doors, produce a fine finish that appears to have been completed while the door was manufactured! We use fine finish spray tips 9this is what us used on interior trim) along with our exterior Benjamin Moore Exterior Trim paint; Regal Select MorGlow SoftGloss
