We seal all butt-joints (the vertical connection between two pieces of siding) only if previously caulked. Correctly installed siding has flashing behind the siding, rendering sealing the butt-joint useless, but if your siding was previously caulked, we are happy to remove any loose-chipping caulking material and apply a fresh coat of the material specified in your estimate document.
Hardie plank, or fiber cement siding that has been previously caulked, will be re-caulked with our special sealant – SIKKA® – which is specifically designed to adhere to artificial siding. This product is recommended for all fiber cement siding and is far stronger than the typical painters caulking used on wood surfaces.
